I know this is a little silly question, but is Nigeria Dangerous? I mean more than other countries? I'm going to be going there and I've heard horror stories about African countries.

i guess every country has its own fair share of hazardous place ..and i suggest that before embarking on a trip we must ask or inquire to our travel agent s of which area are not good for tourist like us to visit or roam around..

well Nigeria is a big place..and what specifically the place where you want to go? if you're planning to go to a place outside the city limits then maybe you should need a guide or something to accompany you and that is hired by a touring company and not the locals..

Hello. My answer would be yes. Nigeria is a dangerous place. Every country has dangerous places but Nigeria is really a notorious country as of now and you should consider every place there to be dangerous.

Since the government is subject to constant upheavals, I suppose the danger in Nigeria has a lot to do with the culture clashes and political problems. If you wait for a festival, a lot of time it is better secured because the tourism department tries to make those the most visitor friendly, but it really depends on what region you are in. Due to the human rights issues and ethnic feuds, Nigeria is a pressure cooker.

I agree with Igalatea, but if you must go there, be sure to stay within the city limits. It is safer there. The areas outside the city limits are undeveloped areas, and who knows what may happen to you out there.

Yes, nowadays African countries facing different types of problem. Nigeria also facing the Gang war clashes and these clashes effect on Nigerian tourism so I am also saying its danger place to travel. Well, if you want quite and peace places so try to visit Virginia you can enjoy every moment over there especially in Luray, VA and Shenandoah Valley.
