Snorkelling around Puerto Colombia / Choroni
Hi. We plan to spend few days at Puerto Colombia / Choroni near Maracay at the PN Henri Pittier, Venezuela –mostly snorkelling.
1. Could anybody please recommend good snorkelling spots around there which can be reached on foot only (i.e. without a need to hire a boat)? I know there are several beaches reachable on foot, but I cannot find any details about their suitability for snorkelling - there should be the Playa Puerto Escondido, Playa El Baul, Playa Tipire, and Playa El Diario to the west, and the Playa Grande and Playa la Cieneguita to the east of Puerto Colombia.
2. We also consider renting a boat and spent a day on some of the beaches reachable only by rented boat (lanchas). Could anybody please recommend which of the near beaches are the best for snorkelling? Possible candidates seem to be Playa La Calera, Playa Valle Seco, Playa Chuao, Playa Cepe, or Playa de Aroa.
Thanks in advance for help.

Travel Tips
Order the perfect luggage
iết valuable space
To maximize savings area, arrange your luggage in the following way: experiencing jeans, dresses and other large items at the bottom of the suitcase instead of folded and sorted by each husband.
Showing light wear at the bottom and dark glasses and dressed up to avoid dirty as open, close the suitcase more than once.
All small items should be inserted into the corner suitcase, so you save a large area of approximately.
Underwear and swimwear roll into a rolled, wrapped in plastic bags and stuffed in shoes to save space (not exceeding 3 should bring shoes and if you bring along a pair of high heels, do not forget sandals and soles with a sports shoes).
Jewelry store in a separate box or put in small plastic bags, seal the bag mouth sealed.
Shampoo, cosmetics bottles, perfume should cover safety and put in a separate plastic bags before you put in suitcases and luggage. Or at least you will wrap them in towels, arranged in vertical position of the suitcase, not to prevent leakage into our clothes.
If two women who share a room in your travels, please bring one agreement map hair care, who brought the iron, who brought cosmetics to bath ... So, make sure your suitcase will be lighter than your trip and peace of mind if the plane should not be taxed because the weight of luggage allowed.

I went on a hiking tour for a day in Henri Pittier National Park. I booked the tour with Jungle Trip, which is owned by a German woman, Claudia, and her husband Emilio. Their office is in Posada Casa Luna, a small posada next to Hostal Colonial in Puerto Colombia. The day tour was 60 000 Bs (July 2007).
We started the tour at 8.30 in the morning by taking the local bus from Puerto Colombia to the place where we started our walk. Claudia was our guide, a great guide as she knows a lot of things about the flora and fauna in the area and we often stopped to hear about it. It was very interesting. At lunch time we stopped to eat, sandwiches with cream cheese with herbs and a lot of different fruits (more than we could eat). In the afternoon we saw a place where they make sugar out of the sugarcane. Finally we reached a house owned by Claudia and Emilio and there we had a cold beer on the roof (if you take a two day hike that is where you sleep, in hammocks). After that we went down to the small river to have a bath. We walked back to the road and had another beer, bought from the store, while we were waiting for the bus.
If you are in Puerto Colombia you shouldn’t miss a visit to the National Park.
