Default staple food

South Africa is ethnically diverse that there is no single culture..their culture was influences by the different nationalities such Dutch, english, colored people, other migrants from africa , Asia and Europe that they are called the rainbow nation of which it is expected that their food is influenced by the different nationalities that live this place..Seafood is the staple food of the south African diets because of its abundance in Atlantic and Indian oceans..so it is expected that all kinds of dishes can be found in this country..so when you visit this country regardless of your nationalities , you will feel at home because of the varieties of food that they will serve..

That was wonderful information, I thought their staple food is rice or something. Anyhow, they really do have lots of kinds of foods to offer because of their many influences. Those countries that you mentioned are the ones that first colonized them if I'm not wrong.

My friends from South Africa eat something similar to a somewhat uncooked looking version of thick cornbread dough. It's called pap. Technically Mealie pap is similar to oatmeal in consistency and they eat it with everything. It's made out of gritty ground corn and sometimes other grains, but they eat it a little unusually.

If they eat pap with everything I think that would be okay if it is like oatmeal. But it would be better if they have some bread to go with the seafoods.

Almost all kinds of foods are available in South Africa because it is multicultural. Sea food dominates the dishes but one has choice to choose from the variety of foods. Continental,Chinese,Indian tandoori, European, Western and many more. Mostly mutton and fish are considered in rural areas and all kinds of foods are available in tourist places like Johannesburg and sun city.
